Lester's
About This Spot
Stepping into Lester’s feels like slipping into a familiar, well-loved gathering spot where the energy hums with the buzz of a lively sports bar, yet retains the ease and warmth of a neighborhood hangout. The moment you cross the threshold on Clayton Road, you’re greeted by an inviting atmosphere alive with the murmur of friendly conversation, the clink of glasses, and the flicker of games playing on screens around cozy booths and tables spacious enough for groups to share in simple joys.
Here, time moves at a comfortable pace, perfect for settling in with a cold beer drawn fresh from one of many taps or indulging in a creatively crafted cocktail from the bar, where bartenders are known to blend both humor and flair into their pours. The mood strikes a balance between spirited and relaxed — a place where whether you’re unwinding after work, meeting friends for a casual bite, or catching highlights of the home team, you feel part of an easy camaraderie.
The kitchen complements this candidly welcoming spirit with fare that nods to classic bar and grill favorites but carries a heartier, homemade quality. Whether it’s the smoky embrace of pulled pork or the satisfying heft of a BBQ slider combo, each dish brings a touch of warmth and comfort, often paired with crispy sweet potato fries or a fresh house salad that rounds out the meal without fuss. There’s always a sense that whatever you choose, it’s been prepared with an eye for authenticity — the kind of flavors that invite conversation and linger long after the plate is cleared.
What makes Lester’s stand apart is how effortlessly it blends sport-driven enthusiasm with a genuine local pulse. It’s as much about the human moments — the bartender’s quick wit, the server’s attentive care, the familiar nods exchanged by regulars — as it is about the food or the game on the screen. It’s a place where the atmosphere holds a comfortable, unpretentious warmth, inviting guests to relax fully while savoring those simple but meaningful connections.

Stopped in for a happy hour for drinks and appetizers. The bar tender was a lot of fun and was very creative with the drinks. The food was quickly prepared and served too. It was a great location to meet up at before dinner. I look forward to another visit when I’m in town.

Absolutely phenomenal food and service. Sharon was our waitress. Barbecued pork steaks were unreal. Must do if you’re in StL!

Loved our first visit to Lester’s. Our server, JoAnne, was a real gem! The atmosphere is definitely sports and is also very comfortable. Lots of cozy booths and tables for larger groups. It smelled incredible but we were there for pastrami and potato pancakes. They were both outstanding. Lots of beers on tap and menu large enough to make everyone happy. We’ll be back.

I ordered the corned beef sandwich with french fries and a pickle spear. I received a thick stack of corned beef which was nice. The corned beef had more fat in it than I like. The french fries were not cooked enough. I could tell by the color then confirmed when I bit into them. The french fries did not have the crunchy texture although they were seasoned well. I received great service at the bar. The restaurant has a fun vibe to it. They have a very large parking lot in front of the restaurant.

Amazing. Our waiter John was super. He kept our table clean, was prompt and attentive with very nice personality. Food was amazing for the price. Quality ingredients, fresh beer on tap. Fun environment. Family friendly too. We sat in a booth that was oversized with no rubby elbows.

Worth the trip over from Metro-East! Amazing, thin, crisp fries! Food is top-notch! Love their 1/2 lb kosher dog! The “Great Rueben” is one of best I’ve had! Generous portion of meat! Viewing variety and placement of TVs are exceptional! Only negatives… 1) Need new Dill Pickle supplier. Flat w/little dill/garlic/kosher flavor. 2) No rewards program for frequent diners. 3) Inadequate exterior ADA access. Not enough handicapped parking spots. Wheelchair access only on the FAR south end of building. No wheelchair access, front door and northern parking area from parking lot… Curbed! No handicapped ramps in those locations. Also, curbs NOT painted yellow. 4) Finally, more often than not, busy or not busy, the front of house for restaurant seating (vs the exceptional bar area) have come across as not very welcoming. Like you’re “bothering” or interrupting them… imposing. Needs to be addressed.

Tons of TVs, open floorplan so lots of tables, definitely crowded when we went for Saturday lunch so was pretty loud. Was craving burgers and pastrami and they had both so we tried them. Started with the half pound wings buffalo style, these were large and had great flavor, will definitely get those again! Pastrami was excellent, we got the 10oz and it was no joke. You add your own mustard, I personally like pickle slices so I used the ones for the hamburger. They give you a spear with the sandwich, but I just don't want to take a bite put down the sandwich then take a bite of pickle, so just my quirk there. The black and blue burger was good, bacon is nicely cooked and they offer your option of cooking temp for the burger. They have shoestring fries which were great. Tried the onion rings, good flavor but A bit greasy, so didn't finish those. Service was great, super friendly server, very knowledgeable. Will come back for sure.

I have been to Lester's a few times while visiting my family in St Louis. It is a decent sports bar and a great place to catch whatever game you are trying to watch. However, the food has never blown me away. I went with my sister and her son and they were very accommodating and gave us a booth. Service is always friendly and quick. They also were quick to give my nephew an ice water with a top on it, which pleased him. My sister got the Buffalo Chicken wrap which was pretty big and looked delicious. My nephew got the kids mini burgers with fries (the fries were amazing). I got a half Caesar salad and the chili. Both were fine but not amazing. I also got some Sour Pickles as a starter. They were not good. I prefer a Kosher Dill and these just weren't all that good. All in all, this place is decent, especially if you are looking for sports. However, I think there are probably better places in St Louis.
